1. Units & Blocks
- Each unit (Liberty, Rush Creek, San Rafael, YSA) has a 2-hour block: 1 hour Sacrament (SAC) + 1 hour Second Hour (2ND)
- Order can be SAC → 2ND or 2ND → SAC
2. Chapel / Sacrament Constraints
- Only one chapel exists — no SAC meetings can overlap
- Hard: 15 min minimum between end of one SAC and start of next
- Soft: 30 min preferred for chapel turnaround
3. Parking & Family-Ward Constraint
- Hard: Liberty & Rush Creek blocks cannot overlap at all (parking constraint)
- Hard: 30 min minimum gap between Liberty block end and Rush Creek block start (or vice versa)
4. Classroom / Second-Hour Constraints
- Hard: Liberty, Rush Creek, and San Rafael 2ND cannot overlap with each other (not enough classrooms)
- 2ND vs SAC overlaps between different units are allowed
- YSA 2ND can overlap with any other unit's 2ND or SAC (YSA is small)
5. San Rafael Independence
- San Rafael runs fully independent second hour (own Primary, YM/YW, RS/PH)
- Must have full 1-hour 2ND block with classroom availability
6. Time Grid
- All times snap to 30-minute increments
7. YSA Flexibility
- YSA is small, no parking impact — most flexible for movement
- Soft preference: 2ND 2:00–3:00, SAC 3:00–4:00
8. Day Window Preferences
- Soft: Preferred window 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Soft: Avoid starts before 8:30 AM or ends after 4:30–5:00 PM
- Soft: Minimize changes from current schedule
Summary: Hard vs Soft Constraints
Hard constraints (must not violate):
- No SAC–SAC overlap
- 15 min minimum between consecutive SAC meetings
- Liberty & Rush Creek blocks non-overlapping with 30 min gap
- Liberty, Rush Creek, and San Rafael 2ND cannot overlap (only YSA can)
Soft constraints (preferred, affects score):
- 30 min chapel turnaround between SAC meetings
- Stay within 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM window
- Keep units close to current times
